The NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety is suitable for supervisors, managers, safety representatives and newly qualified health and safety advisors within the oil and gas industries, both within and outside the UK and is designed to provide a sound breadth of underpinning knowledge that enables them to manage oil and gas operational risks effectively. This qualification builds on the understanding already gains by studying the NEBOSH National or International General Certificate.
The NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety course consists of one unit. The qualification is for those working in the oil and gas (or related) industries, who need to gain a sound understanding of the principles of operational health and safety that apply in their specialist area.
For some, the International Oil and Gas Certificate can be an important step towards establishing a lifelong professional career in occupational health and safety.
This qualification is aimed primarily at managers, supervisors and health and safety advisers with safety responsibilities in the oil and gas industry. The qualification focuses on operational process safety and is intended to enable learners to apply and implement effective process safety management across all areas of their operation, anywhere in the world.
The qualification is:

❖ Ideal for managers, supervisors, or health and safety advisers
This course takes place over a five day period, followed by a revision day prior to the exam.
Unit IOG1:
❖ Element 1 – Health, safety and environmental management in context
❖ Element 2 – Hydrocarbon process safety 1
❖ Element 3 – Hydrocarbon process safety 2
❖ Element 4 – Fire protection and emergency response
❖ Element 5 – Logistics and transport operations

The IOG has one unit assessment:
Assessment Type:
❖ IOG1 – Question paper – 2 Hours
Assessments are marked by external examiners appointed by NEBOSH. These examiners are chosen for their experience and expertise to ensure that learners are assessed by the very best from our industry.
Qualification Grade:
The qualification grade is based on the result from Unit IOG1
❖ Distinction: 65 marks or higher
❖ Credit: 55 – 64 marks
❖ Pass: 45 – 54 marks
