The NEBOSH National General Certificate covers main legal requirements for health and safety in the UK. This includes the identification and control of workplace hazards, and the practical application of knowledge.

Awarding Body

The syllabus is mapped to the National Occupational Standards for Health and Safety owned by Proskills. Therefore, whilst the assessment includes a requirement to write a short report, no previous safety knowledge is required.

The NEBOSH National General Certificate is available for delivery at your site. Learners can also attend the course at RTS’ world-class training facility, CATCH

There are no specific pre-requisites however To focus on the key subject, individuals should already have skills in assertiveness; recognising body language; active listening; and basic presentation skills.

Important: Delegates should come to the course with a training session that they can use for practice during the day.

Course Duration

The course is delivered as a bespoke training course in a training room environment and lasts one day from 0830 to 1700. The afternoon is spent with individuals having the opportunity to actually deliver a training session and receive personal feedback

The qualification is divided into three units, each of which is assessed separately:

  • Management of Health and Safety (NGC1)
  • Controlling workplace hazards (GC2)
  • Health and safety practical application (GC3)
