The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s implementation of recommended changes to make refineries, chemical factories and sugar plants safer is set to come under fire.
Members of the Chemical Safety Board will sound the public rebuke at a meeting in Washington, July 25.
A vote is set to be held on whether moves by OSHA to implement
seven recommended safety regulations over the past decade have been adequate.
The agency will also decide whether to designate an OSHA standard on combustible dust at sugar refineries as part of their “Most Wanted Safety Improvement”.
The CSB, whose members are appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate, is an independent federal agency tasked with making safety recommendations to industry and regulatory agencies such as OSHA.

The morning session will commence at 9:30 am with the afternoon session begining at 1:30 pm.
