This 5-day interactive workshop is designed to refresh and inform operational personnel on the hazards, risks and controls within the Bulk Liquid Operation Environment.

The workshop is built around a range of core Bulk Liquid Operations elements with a blend of classroom, workshop and onsite activities the course provides delegates with the opportunity to develop their knowledge and review a range of activities.

  • BLO 01k How to monitor and maintain equipment and infrastructure within bulk liquid operations.
  • BLO 02k How to prepare pipelines and hoses within bulk liquid operations.
  • BLO 03k How to control the transfer of bulk liquid products within bulk liquid operations.
  • BLO 04k How to provide product control information within bulk liquid operations.
  • BLO 05k How to establish and maintain effective working relationships within bulk liquid operations.
  • BLO 06k How to contribute to the safety of bulk liquid operations.

Assessment includes the following methods (although, please note, observation in the work environment is not required for learners only undertaking the knowledge units):

  • Observation of performance in the work environment.
  • Examining products of work.
  • Questioning the learner.
  • Discussing with the learner.
  • Looking at learner statements.

  1. Introduction to the L2 Diploma in Bulk Liquid Operations Qualification.
  2. Process Safety in a Bulk Liquid Environment and Introduction to Operational Principles (IOSH Approved).
  3. Understanding Tank Farms including Pumps, Pipelines, Connections and Hoses.
  4. Principles of Tank Dipping / Sampling / Product Testing and Blending.
  5. Communication including: Handover of operations / COW / Contractor Control / Procedures / Defect Reporting.
  6. Principle of Safe Product Transfer Operations including Pigging Operations / Hose Handling / Inspection.
  7. Principles of Pipeline & Shipping Receipts / Deliveries / Road and Rail.
  8. Principles of Emergency Response including Roles and Responsibilities.

On successful completion of this workshop learners can progress to complete the full qualification by undertaken assessment at their terminal against the 6 mandatory performance units. (Note additional costs will apply).
