To provide the learners with the core understanding and awareness of process safety within a high hazard environment. Also, to demonstrate how effective process safety fundamentals underpin the application of safe site operations.
On completion of the course, learners should be able to:
- Define process safety and understand how to contribute towards it
- Learn the regulatory model, hazard / risk evaluation tools and process safety management frameworks for high hazard environments
- Identify process safety controls, human factors and the importance of adhering to ‘safety critical’ operations – specifically focussing on prevention, control and mitigation
- Demonstrate awareness of process safety and how contributing to this impacts safe site

- Develop a ‘bow tie’ diagram for a localised site Major Accident Hazard scenario
- Understand COMAH and how the regulations apply to site operations
- Value the need for continued effectiveness of all process safety barriers / controls
