Press release issued: Tuesday 26th February
Reynolds Training Services has been awarded a prestigious contract to produce training material for the National Skills Academy Process Industries.
The Lincolnshire-based health and safety specialist will develop six new modules for the Skills Academy‘s new Process Safety Management for Operations course.
Reynolds Training Services director, John Reynolds, said he was “honoured” to have been chosen by the Skills Academy.
“This gives us the chance to impart our knowledge and skills to a wider audience”, said an elated Mr Reynolds from his company’s headquarters at CATCH in Stallingborough.
Processing on-site safety
The Skills Academy has worked with the Process Safety Management Project Board, made up of senior industry EHS representatives, key stakeholder organisations and the Health & Safety Executive, since 2011 to develop three process safety courses which comprehensively cover all rungs of the workforce ladder.
- Process Safety Leadership: senior management
- Process Safety Management Foundations: middle management
- Process safety Management for Operations: operators
Reynolds Training Services will develop the six training modules to reflect the requirements of the Process Safety Management for Operations training standard created by the PSM project industry-led Expert Panel.
The course will be supported by a Train the Trainer package that will provide the skills and resources for an employer’s own training personnel to deliver the PSMO in-house.
Skills Academy ‘delighted’ to be working with RTS
Neil Smith, skills development director at the Skills Academy, said he was “delighted” to be working with RTS in the production of these key training materials.
Explaining why the contract had been awarded to RTS, Mr Smith stated: “John was a member of the Expert Panel, working together with other leading figures from industry, stakeholder and regulatory bodies and training organisations to develop the PSMO training standard; so he knows the specification for this training material intimately.”
RTS was recognised by the Skills Academy as a ‘Centre of Excellence for Technical Competence‘ back in the summer of 2012.
When it came to awarding the process safety contract, Mr Smith said the Academy was already fully aware of “the quality of Reynolds Training Services’ work and their endless attention to detail”.
“The Academy and industry rightly demands”, he continued, “the highest quality training materials and John has a strong track record in this field, producing materials for his clients, and recently working with us to develop our Contractor Petroleum Safety Training course.”
Mr Reynolds said the creation of a trainer package to enable health and safety personnel to deliver the process safety course in-house would be of huge benefit to industry.
“Time, cost-saving and flexibility of delivery will be complemented by the local knowledge and experience an on-site trainer brings as they understand their own site and its associated hazards better than anyone else.”
RTS has already commenced work on the package which will undergo final approval by the Academy and Expert Panel with completion scheduled for the end of March.
The company is working with the Academy to plan Train the Trainer course dates for April and May. For more details, please contact Reynolds Training Services or the Skills Academy.
