OSHA forms alliance to protect oil and gas workers

The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration has formed a region-wide alliance with the Association of Energy Service Companies in Dallas in a bid to make the oil and gas industry safer.

AESC will be tasked with promoting better understanding of workplace safety and the rights and responsibilities of workers and employers.

OSHA’s deputy regional administrator in Dallas, Eric Harbin, said: “OSHA’s relationship with AESC will power new ideas and best practices to help make this industry as safe and healthful as possible.”

AESC’s members include:

  • Oil and gas professionals
  • Field crews
  • Engineers
  • Manufacturers
  • Oil and gas producers
  • Operators

Under the initiative, AESC plans to work with industry to develop training and outreach materials aimed at helping employers meet defined safety goals.
