It covers responding to incidents, hazardous conditions, emergencies, handover, working in a team, identifying and dealing with hazards.
The qualifiaction also offers a Chemical Processing pathway which, additionally, covers preparing for, controlling and completing batch processing operations.

Operators who want to progress in Operations or specialise in Chemical Processing.

Chemical Processing Pathway – Mandatory Units
All 6 Pathway-Specific Mandatory Units must be achieved.

❖ PPO-R 2.5c – Prepare for Batch Processing within a Replicated Process/Production Environment
❖ CPPO 2.6k – How to Control, Monitor and Adjust the Processing Operation within Processing Industries Environments
❖ PPO-R 2.6c – Control, Monitor and Adjust the Batch Processing Operation within a Replicated Process/Production Environment
❖ CPPO 2.7k – How to Complete Processing Operation within Processing Industries Environments
❖ PPO-R 2.7c – Complete the Batch Processing Operation within a Replicated Process/Production Environment
The Knowledge Units (labelled with a k) and Competence Units (labelled with a c) must be taken together i.e. if unit PIO 3.11k is chosen, unit PPO-R 3.11c must also be completed; and vice-versa.
To gain the full qualification Learners must achieve 2 Optional Units chosen from the following:

❖ PIO 3.11k – How to Solve Process Problems within Processing Industries Environments
❖ PPO-R 3.11c – Solve Process Problems within a Replicated Process/Production Environment
❖ PIO 3.13k – How to Conduct an Assessment of Risks in the Workplace within Processing Industries Environments
❖ PPO-R 3.13c – Conduct an Assessment of Risks in the Workplace within a Replicated Process/Production Environment
Assessment includes the following methods (although observation of performance in the work environment is not required for learners only undertaking the Knowledge Units):

❖ Questioning the learner
❖ Discussing with the learner
❖ Use of others (witness testimony)
❖ Looking at learner statements
❖ Recognising prior learning
