The Qualsafe First Aid at Work course enables learners to administer safe and effective first aid, as well as deliver first aid training – in theory and practice.

The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 make it mandatory for employers to offer prompt medical assistance when employees are injured or ill in the workplace. Measures should be established to ensure immediate attention is given, from conducting a risk assessment to appointing an adequate number of qualified first aiders, and providing first aid training.
The objective of the course is to equip every learner with the skills and knowledge required to provide safe and effective first aid. This will be achieved through a combination of theoretical and practical training, ensuring learners have the necessary knowledge and practical competencies to handle various first aid scenarios and assume the responsibilities of a first aider in the workplace.

Any employee from any level who wants to provide safe and effective first aid support to their colleagues at work.

Seven practical assessments
Two theory assessments (Multiple Choice).
Develop the skills and knowledge required to deal with various first aid scenarios, including:
❖ Understanding the role and responsibilities of a first aider
❖ Accurately assessing an incident
❖ Providing first aid to an unresponsive casualty
❖ Providing first aid to a casualty who is choking
❖ Providing first aid to a casualty who is bleeding
❖ Understanding how to administer first aid to a casualty who is in shock
❖ Understanding how to administer first aid to a casualty with minor injuries
❖ Conducting a secondary survey
❖ Being able to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected injuries to bones, muscles, and joints
❖ Being able to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries
❖ Understanding how to administer first aid to a casualty with suspected chest injuries
❖ Being able to to carry out first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds
❖ Being able to carry out first aid to a casualty with an eye injury
❖ Understanding how to administer first aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning
❖ Being able to administer first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis
❖ Understanding how to administer first aid to a casualty with suspected major illness
