This GQA qualification provides the underpinning knowledge and demonstration of performance that is not only required for all assessor-regulated qualifications but also underpins vocational assessment within the workplace.
This qualification covers the principles and practices of assessment including the assessment of occupational competence in the work environment, and allows learners to demonstrate performance using our unique real world environment at the National Centre for Process and Manufacturing (NCPM).

Team leaders, supervisors and managers who want to assess the competence of their colleagues.

Prerequisites:
There are no specific skills, knowledge, understanding or any other qualifications needed, however entry to the qualification is at the discretion of the centre.
Unit 1 – Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
Unit 2 – Assess occupational competence in the work environment
Assessment includes the following methods (although observation of performance in the work environment is not required for learners only undertaking the knowledge units):
- Observation of performance in the work environment.
- Examining products of work.
- Questioning the learner.
- Discussing with the learner.
- Use of others (witness testimony).
- Looking at learner statements.
- Recognising prior learning.
- Understand and explain the value and the process of assessment in industrial training.
- Define and practice the primary underpinning principles of assessment.
- Understand, accept and communicate the responsibilities of the assessor.
- Identify the regulations which are relevant to the assessment of training in the bulk storage and process industries.
TRAINING FOR A LIFE-LONG CAREER
Successful condidates can go on to additional training at Levels 3 and 4, such as our Level 3 or level 4 GQA Award in the Internal Quality Assurance Process and Practice.
