This GQA qualification provides the underpinning knowledge which is required for all assessor-regulated qualifications.
When offered alongside regulated qualifications in Internal Quality Assurance, this qualification provides comprehensive coverage of regulated qualifications in assessment and internal quality assurance.
This qualification covers the principles and practices of assessment including the assessment of occupational competence in the work environment.

Team leaders, supervisors and managers who want to assess the competence of their colleagues.

Prerequisites:
There are no specific skills, knowledge, understanding or any other qualifications needed, however entry to the qualification is at the discretion of the centre.
Unit 1 – Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
Unit 2 – Assess occupational competence in the work environment
Assessment includes the following methods (although observation of performance in the work environment is not required for learners only undertaking the knowledge units):
❖ Observation of performance in the work environment
❖ Examining products of work
❖ Questioning the learner
❖ Discussing with the learner
❖ Use of others (witness testimony)
❖ Looking at learner statements
❖ Recognising prior learning
❖ Understand and explain the value and the process of assessment in industrial training
❖ Define and practice the primary underpinning principles of assessment
❖ Understand, accept and communicate the responsibilities of the assessor
❖ Identify the regulations which are relevant to the assessment of training in the bulk storage and process industries
TRAINING FOR A LIFE-LONG CAREER
Successful condidates can go on to additional training at Levels 3 and 4, such as our Level 3 or level 4 GQA Award in the Internal Quality Assurance Process and Practice.
