Prerequisites:
There are no formal entry requirements for the SIAS Level 2 Award in Process Safety Awareness. However, learners should have a basic understanding of English and mathematics.
Recommended age: 16+
The aim of this course is to introduce the fundamentals of process safety, including process safety control measures, risk identification measures, the consequences of poor process safety, the role of emergency response and mitigation measures.
Upon completion, learners will:
- Describe the basics of health and safety legislation in high hazard industries.
- Identify the principles of process safety and control measures used in high hazard industries.
- Describe hazard and risk identification measures used in high hazard industries.
- Identify the consequences of poor process safety in high hazard industries.
- Identify the role of emergency response in process safety management.
- Describe what mitigation is and identify the available mitigation measures used in process safety.
Assessment is undertaken through the SIAS online assessment platform and consists of a range of multiple-choice questions. Thes are externally set and marked with a Pass/Fail grading.
Learners who fail to achieve a pass will be permitted to retake the assessment. Learners may only seek a resit for any previously failed assessment.
You will be provided with full access to the assessment portal during the course delivery, with assessment undertaken at the end of course delivery.
