Toyota’s Burnaston car plant has scooped pole position for its work to promote health and safety in the workplace.
The South Derbyshire-based company was commended at the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2014 after securing 18 consecutive gold awards for working to protect staff.
RoSPA’s chief executive, Tom Mullarkey, said: “The achievements of RoSPA award winners raise the bar for health and safety management, and many other organisations will be taking note and following their lead.”
Mr Mullarkey, speaking after the awards ceremony last week at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, sent “congratulations to all our award winners”.
The RoSPA awards run back 58 years and recognise commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention at work.
Engineering solutions firm Greenbank Group also received a gold award for its safety efforts.
