The Health and Safety Executive has published details of four revised Approved Codes of Practice covering work with hazardous substances.
According to the Regulator, the changes are designed to consolidate and simplify information to make it easier for employers to understand their obligations under the law.
The four new ACOPs break down as:
- The control of substances hazardous to health
- The control of legionella bacteria in water systems
- Dangerous substances and explosive atmospheres
- Managing and working with asbestos
The new regulatory structures follow recommendations by Professor Ragnar Löfstedt in his report ‘Reclaiming Health and Safety For All’.
