The night’s sky of Lavaca County in the US state of Texas shone red on Wednesday night after an explosion at an oil rig sparked a massive fire.
Houston-based EOG Resources, which operates the oil well, reports that no one was hurt in the blast.
Firefighters and a private contractor which specialises in oil rig fires are said to have the flames under control, but it is expected to continue burning for a couple more days.
The cause of the blast is yet to be established and OSHA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, has launched an investigation.
