The HSE have released a new safety notice regarding the use of hooped ladders (Which are common within the oil and gas sector, often used as secondary escape routes from process areas and storage tanks).

This safety notice alerts dutyholders to the key findings of newly published HSE research. It further clarifies that HSE is not seeking to prohibit hooped ladders, to recommend removal of hoops from ladders, or to prohibit the use of personal fall-arrest systems with hooped ladders, but to remind duty holders of the need to fully assess the risks from work at height activities and provide context and explanation for the research being published.

The full safety alert and range of research documents can be found here Safety Alert Bulletin No CCID 1-2012.
