Q) NEBOSH Training Courses FAQ: What is MAPPS?
A) MAPPS stands for Major Accident Prevention Policy Statement.
The COMAH regulations place a requirement on all operators to produce a Major Accident Prevention Policy – this is applicable for both lower and top tier sites.
Whilst top tier sites may include the MAPP within the main body of their safety report, lower tier must produce a specific MAPP.
MAPPS is not to be confused with ‘map’ – a diagrammatic representation of an area of land or sea showing physical features such as cities and roads.
