The Health and Safety Executive has updated its guidance on above and below ground fixed bulk storage tanks to align with the rigours of the Buncefield report.
The guidance supplements the advice contained in the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 Approved Code of Practice and Guidance.
The updated information applies to:
The guidance also provides insights into the design, construction, operation and maintenance of installation used for the storage of flammable liquids in fixed and transportable tanks operating at, or near, atmospheric pressure.
It helps users assess the risks arising from the use of flammable liquids and how they can be controlled.
The guidance resides as one of three documents dealing with fire and explosion hazards associated with flammable liquids. The other two are:
