The Health and Safety Executive has launched a consultation to seek out opinions about its proposals to consolidate and modernise the petroleum legislative framework in Britain.
The new regulatory structures would aim to “simplify” the current legislative arrangements and make the requirements easier for high hazard sites to understand.
According to the HSE’s website: “The proposed consolidation maintains or improves existing health and safety requirements in relation to regulation of petroleum in GB.”
The proposed regulatory structures follow recommendations by Professor Ragnar Löfstedt in his report ‘Reclaiming Health and Safety For All’.
The HSE is also currently reviewing related guidance including relevant Approved Codes of Practice.
Have your say.
