NEBOSH Training Courses FAQ#4: What is PPE?

Q) NEBOSH Training Courses FAQ: What is PPE?

A) PPE is a classic when it comes to industrial terminology: it means personal protective equipment.

Like sunblock, the item of personal protective equipment protects only the wearer, whilst being worn.

If you’re an employer, then it is your duty to provide, replace and pay for personal protective equipment.

Typical types of PPE, include:
  • Respirators
  • Protective gloves
  • Protective clothing
  • Protective footwear
  • Eye protection

The Health and Safety Executive advises employers to ensure that their staff understand why they need PPE and are trained to use it correctly.
