A natural gas pipeline exploded on Saturday morning near Otterburne, a small settlement located about 50 kilometers south of Winnipeg.
Emergency crews evacuated five homes and closed nearby roads after the pipeline explosion sent a massive fireball into the air.
Witnesses said the flames reached hundreds of feet into the air and that loud noises continued to sound after the initial explosion.
Trans-Canada Pipeline, which owns the pipeline, confirmed that the burning gas is non-toxic.
There are no reports of injuries or damage to private property and police are investigating the cause of the blast.
